Introductions

Hello! Welcome to our blog!  This where I'm supposed to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about who I am.  However, this blog has, so far, been the hardest one to write.  I have been struggling to find the words to describe "who I am."  And yes, I see the humor in the fact that the author of You Are can't put into words who "she is." Yes, Lord I see you chuckling.  So here goes...

Am I a mom? Yes, of 3 wonderful blessings.  We have an 8 year old son, a 5 year old and 2 year old daughter.  Am I a wife? Yes, see our About Us page for a pic of my handsome and hardworking husband.  Am I a sister, a daughter, an American Ninja Warrior?  Yes, yes, and no.  Do I stomp and dance and sing off key during worship?  Do I love early, quiet mornings in with my Lord and His Word, and late, quiet nights with Him too? Yes, yes, and yes.  Do I enjoy baking and sunshine and coffee and folding the loads of laundry my family makes?  Yes, yes, yes, and definitely not.  Am I a nurse, a teacher, a DIY extraordinaire?  Yes, yes, and not during this season of my life.

All of those things describe me, but not to be cheesy, but I don't want any of them to be what defines me.  Because no matter whose blood I share, no matter who or how much I love, no matter what I enjoy or loath doing, no matter what I do or don't do for a job... the only thing I want defining me is my Heavenly Father.  The only blood that I want to base my identity on is Christ's.  The only job or assignment I want to be remembered for is the one that He created and enabled me to do.

So who am I?  What can you expect to read here?

I am a beloved daughter of the One True God.  I am doing this life fueled by and in agreement with the remarkable grace of God which He has distributed out to my life (I Cor 3:10).  My purpose in this blog is not to teach you how to be a perfect mom, wife, author or anything, but you encourage and journey with you as we put to full use the grace God has measured out your life and to mine.

Through His Grace,

Emily Assell
